HUNGRY...

Many of you are writing and asking about the latest from Uganda and how to pray...
Thank you for your concern...
Our friends that are able to email are all writing and saying...there is GREAT HUNGER!
The rains were late this year and they did finally come, so there is hope,
but there is very real hunger in the mean time.
Reports from Arua are that commodities that we were watching double and even triple in price are continuing to rise.  Will you pray with us for our friends?

Our friends Medline and David (Medline above with the girls) have welcomed a baby girl, Melody into their family since we left.  As we are being reminded again the squeeze of adding new lives and mouths to your family, we are praying for God's provision for this precious family.

Geoffry and Robina are dear friends that are beginning to go through the "proper" cultural and religious steps to be married in the eyes of the church. In Uganda that is an expensive undertaking. We have been praying with them for years about this. Now, as they seek to obey, they have both lost their jobs and prices continue to escalate...pray with us for PROVISION on every level and PROTECTION from the evil one who is seeking to kill and destroy.

Azite David (held here by Elsie Jayne) is the third child of our dear friend Jane. She is basically a single mom struggling to provide for her kids. She loves Jesus and her family. We haven't heard from her, as she doesn't have internet access, but we know from various reports these must be difficult days. Her two oldest should be back to school soon. Will you pray with us for the Lord to make a way for Jane, even if she cannot see a way?

These men represent the body of Christ sent from other lands to Uganda, specifically Arua. They meet together for bible study and prayer monthly. I pray their faces help remind you as you pray for the international community that is seeking to be a light in Arua in these days. Pray with us for discernment and wisdom for these men as they lead their families and ministries and seek Jesus as to how to provide in some small way for those around them.

One of our last Sundays in Arua Billy preached in this church that meets at a local school. The kids were enamoured with Elsie Jayne and Lucy's children's bible and took turns looking at ALL the pictures after worship. Will you pray with us for the kids of Arua? The ones who have families that are struggling to provide for them...and the ones who don't...

Please pray for us to have God's mind as to how to respond to this real need even as we wait comfortably on this side of the sea for our family to multiply. There is confusion and even guilt as we enjoy the many ammenities of America. Pray we can rest fully in Jesus wherever He leads us day by day...and that we say YES with all our hearts to whatever He asks...
Our prayer is that we might really be able to say with Paul...
"I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little."
Philippians 4:12

Praying... How can we - who have so much - not feel heart-breaking compassion for those who are so hungry? How can we not have righteous anger for the already-so-poor and hungry lands that are not experiencing a drought and famine? Like Nehemiah in his first chapter, a group of friends and I have taken the responsibility to practice intercessory prayer for Uganda, Somalia, and other lands during this time of overwhelming need. Thanks for the update. I will try to remember this faces and names.
