A Family Trip to Tonj, South Sudan

Last week we had the privilege to go as a family to Tonj, South Sudan. It was our first time to take the twins to South Sudan as well as the first time Joanna was able to actually participate in facilitating a storying training. While it was a little intense to have the four girls in the South Sudan heat (being that it was between 100-107F), we actually loved being together as a family and believe God was in the time.
There were approximately 35 Sudanese church leaders participating in the Bible storytelling training and they responded with excitment and gratitude. Many of you were praying for us and we thank you so much for carrying us while we were traveling. Hallelujah! Praise God Forever!

Joanna storied Jesus calming the storm. Jesus really helped her and I loved having her with me as part of a training.

While we still had strategy meetings as the facilitating team, the girls definitely made them more exciting! Our facilitating team for this trip included Sabet (in red shirt), Adhanom (sitting in front of me in striped shirt), Jeff (taking pic) and Christine (in purple shirt) Stanfield, Joanna (hidden in black) and Whitney (in blue). Stanfields are our Uganda assistant country coordinators and we really appreciated having them on the team. Adhanom and Whitney are a part of the Mango Ministry team and it was great to be with them again.

Sabet & Suzy Kuj and their kids, Hannah, Agum, and Jedi hosted us all week. Their ministry, In Deed and Truth, is having a powerful  impact for the Kingdom of God in the Tonj area. We loved getting to be with their family in ministry.

While it was South Sudan with all the challenges, including electricity (read: fans) shutting off at night, there were also unexpected blessings like a trampoline for the kids. It was a wonderful blessing for during training hours.

We had to fly in on a Caravan which was actually really cool. Lucy particularly liked getting to use the headseat.

Our winged chariot. Praise Jesus for Aim Air!

The In Deed and Truth Ministry team all live together on a big compound in Tonj. This is their "dining room" which was a place of nourishment for both the heart and stomach. That is no small miracle in a place like Tonj.
