Don't be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, Who is great and glorious, and fight for your friends, your families, and your homes!
Nehemiah 4:14
Nehemiah 4:14
Not long ago a friend that Joanna was meeting with regularly for Bible study told her about the way her church welcomes confirmands into the body. "Once we are confirmed, the older members of the congregation line up to greet us and welcome us. They all said to me, "welcome to the battle." Now I understand that a bit more." As Joanna's friend recalled this experience, we found words for the reality we are seeing and living in the Christian Life!
WELCOME TO THE BATTLE!!!
As someone who has committed to following what Jesus is doing in Arua, Uganda and the surrounding areas, in spite of the Coppedge family...we welcome you again, we remind you again, this is a battle and tonight we invite you to fight!!!
Our colleague and friend Scott Rambo is in Isiro, Congo on the front lines of the battle tonight. He is helping other dear friends of ours, the VanderMeers as they put on a huge crusade for the people there...that many might come to know and love and walk with Jesus! Scott is assisting them in technical work like recording and duplicating the materials. Josh Friedeman, who is visiting this summer, is there working with Scott. Tonight, Saturday, is the last big night of the conference. Will you pray with us that Jesus meets each hungry heart...that many hearts would turn to Him and lives would be changed for all eternity!?
Fight for our friend Meg as she is home with three very small boys "alone." Timothy has had a very high fever all day long and she has been to doctors and sought council. We need the Great Physician to touch and heal that sweet boy!...NOW!!! He is able! Pray with us.
You have been praying for our families and we thank you! As you battled along side Nancy Neff, she became a breast cancer survivor! Now we invite you to battle with us and Beth Coppedge! Keep fighting in prayer!!! She has finished round one of chemo. The road ahead is long, but Jesus goes before! Pray with us for Billy's sisters who are care-givers for Papa as well.
Dan and Katy Beth Searls (Billy's sister and her family) are in the USA from Hungary for a summer furlough. Will you pray Jesus blesses, encourages, and prepares them even as they fight this cancer battle and carry those they love and God has called them to in Hungary as well.
At home we ask that you pray with us even now as Billy speaks this evening at a men's Bible study and then tomorrow morning on a local radio station, ARUA FM. We praise Jesus for these opportunities to share His light right here in Arua at home-home!
We will be welcoming into our home eight Sudanese pastors July 15-18 for our second Facilitators Training School. These men will stay with us and become better equiped we trust to not only share the stories of Scripture but to train other men and women to share the stories and do Bible study verbally as well.
We thank you that we can be quite confident even as we write this, that we are not in this battle alone. Thank you for that! Welcome to the battle!!!
For we do not battle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12
